Safari unzips it for you. In other browsers, double-click

Move it to Applications
Drag Social Snagger.app into your Applications folder. Updating? Click Quit Snagger in the sidebar first, then replace the old copy.

Open it the first time
The app isn't signed by Apple yet, so macOS asks once. macOS 15 and later: open it, click Done, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. macOS 14 and earlier: Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open.

Get Python if asked
If your Mac has no Python 3.9+, Snagger says so and offers Get Python. Install it from python.org, then open Snagger again.

Start snagging
Snagger opens in its own window (in Chrome, Brave, Edge or Arc if you have one, otherwise your default browser) and stays in the Dock while it runs.
Why the warning? Social Snagger isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS can't vouch for it. The app runs entirely on your Mac: your files, logins and keys stay in your user folder and only go to the services you connect. Only download it from snagger.social.
First run: connect what you use
Everything is optional, and you can start by dropping your own photos and videos onto the window. Turn these on when you need them.
Channels
Settings › Channels. Connect Instagram, Threads, Facebook Pages, Pinterest, Tumblr, Bluesky or a webhook. Each brand keeps its own logins.
AI
Settings › AI. Paste a key for Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter, or run Ollama or LM Studio for free on your Mac.
Telegram
Settings › Telegram. Create a bot with @BotFather, paste the token, press Connect. TikTok and YouTube hand-offs arrive on your phone.
Updating and rolling back
- Click Quit Snagger in the sidebar, then drag the new app into Applications and replace the old one.
- Your library, calendar, logins and settings carry over. Big updates save a backup first, in
Application Support › Social Snagger › backups. - To go back, download an earlier version below and replace the app the same way.
Uninstalling
- Click Quit Snagger, then move Social Snagger.app to the Trash.
- To remove your data too, delete
~/Library/Application Support/Social Snagger. In Finder: Go › Go to Folder. - Files you linked from your own folders are never touched. Snagger reads them in place.

Series, carousels, Create and launch plans
- Series always post in order: B1/B2/B3, "1 of 3" and "part 2" files are grouped automatically, and a part is held until the one before it is out.
- Carousels post as one post to Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Bluesky and Tumblr, and arrive as one album in Telegram.
- Create: an Idea → Generated → Editing → Ready → Scheduled board. One press writes every slide, the caption and the hashtags in your brand kit.
- Plan my launch: 10, 20 or 25 posts across pre-launch, launch week and after, all written right away and booked in one step.

On the calendar means scheduled
- No drafts and no Lock step: Fill puts real posts on the calendar and they go out on time.
- "Clear this week" takes unsent posts off the calendar and puts them back in your approved pile.

- Instagram is capped at 5 hashtags and Threads at 1, including posts already queued.
- AI picks exactly five tags, best first, and tags keep the order they were added.
